DESIGN
The KALA 50 incorporates a custom-designed computer for Server Apps and another for Player Apps, along with a series of cascaded processing stages.
- The Server engine serves as the system’s powerhouse, providing a high-power buffer and handling signal generation. It efficiently transforms files or chaotic internet streams into precisely timed streams. This process benefits significantly from ample processing resources.
- The Player engine, operating in a low-noise environment, further enhances the digital signal. It runs Player apps and buffers and regenerates the signal. The processing steps meticulously isolate, buffer, regenerate, and re-clock the signal. Importantly, this is done separately for the USB output and the synchronous digital outputs (S/PDIF, AES3, I2S).
- The Server engine acts as the system’s core, managing your files, streaming services, and controlling playback. You can play music over your network to multiple endpoints or directly to the DAC in your main system using options like Direct Ethernet, USB, S/PDIF, AES3, or I2S
