Burmester B38

"This creates an impressive weight and authority to the sound of what is an inherently 'room-friendly' design."

Burmester’s latest B38 loudspeaker is a tall, slimline floorstander with a performance, build and specification that makes you think it should be in among the top-end category. This deceptively heavy 1.1m tall tower includes Burmester’s trademark AMT tweeter with a 170mm midrange and side-firing 320mm bass unit. This creates an impressive weight and authority to the sound of what is an inherently ‘room-friendly’ design. It was, of course, designed to with Burmester’s own muscular electronics, and partnered with that level of good electronics, the B38 really delivers the goods.

In our test, Alan Sircom felt that the loudspeaker performed impressively throughout, but that, “one of the most striking things about the Burmester B38 is the way it ties everything together.” He concluded that, “the sound of the Burmester B38 is exciting, dynamic, impressive and involving, but it is also coherent, effortless and has a seriously kick-ass bass line.
